“Viksit Haryana for Viksit Bharat, This Is Our Resolve”: PM Modi in Yamuna Nagar
Yamuna Nagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects in Yamuna Nagar, reaffirming his government’s commitment to a Viksit Haryana for a Viksit Bharat. Addressing a large gathering, PM Modi invoked the cultural heritage of Haryana and extended his wishes on the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Describing Yamuna Nagar as a vital industrial hub, the Prime Minister lauded its contributions to India’s economy in sectors like plywood, brass, and steel. He noted the historical significance of the region and shared his personal connection from his earlier tenure as Haryana in-charge.
“We are witnessing double-speed development in Haryana under both the Union and state governments. These projects symbolize our commitment to strengthening the state’s infrastructure and economy,” PM Modi said.
Industrial Growth & Mission Manufacturing
Highlighting Babasaheb Ambedkar’s vision of industrial development as a path to social justice, PM Modi emphasized the role of the ongoing Mission Manufacturing, introduced in this year’s Union Budget. He underlined the initiative’s focus on job creation, skill development, MSME support, and global competitiveness of Indian products. The Prime Minister announced the commencement of work on the third unit of the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant to support industries in the region.
Boost to Power Sector
Underscoring the importance of energy security, PM Modi outlined major initiatives like One Nation-One Grid, expansion of coal and nuclear power, and solar energy projects. He also promoted the PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli Yojana, which enables households to install solar panels and reduce their electricity bills to zero. “Over 1.25 crore people have already registered, including lakhs from Haryana,” he said.
Focus on Farmers and Rural Development
Acknowledging the contribution of Haryana’s farmers, the Prime Minister highlighted multiple welfare schemes. These include the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, under which ₹6,500 crore has been disbursed, and the PM Fasal Bima Yojana with over ₹9,000 crore in claims paid. PM Modi also announced the foundation of a Gobardhan plant in Yamuna Nagar to generate bio-gas and contribute to waste management.
The Prime Minister praised Haryana’s recent decision to abolish the colonial-era canal water tax and waive ₹130 crore in outstanding dues. “These steps strengthen our resolve to empower farmers and create sustainable income sources,” he said.
Infrastructure Expansion
The event also marked announcements related to infrastructure, including a new bypass in Rewari and improved road connectivity between Delhi and Narnaul, expected to cut travel time by an hour. PM Modi referred to his earlier visit to Hisar, where direct flights to Ayodhya Dham were launched.
Political Contrast and National Unity
Taking a swipe at opposition-ruled states, the Prime Minister criticized governance in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, alleging stalled development, inflation, and corruption. “For us, politics is a medium of service,” he said, contrasting it with what he termed as power-centric models of opposition parties.
Reflecting on Baisakhi and the 106th anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the Prime Minister paid tribute to freedom fighter Shankaran Nair. “His courageous stand against the British in the aftermath of Jallianwala Bagh is a shining example of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” he noted.
Dignitaries Present
The event was attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Ministers Manohar Lal, Rao Inderjit Singh, and Krishan Pal Gurjar, along with other senior officials and dignitaries.
PM Modi concluded his address by calling for collective efforts to empower the nation’s pillars—poor, farmers, youth, and women—and expressed confidence in Haryana’s continued march toward development.
