New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday extended warm greetings to the nation on the eve of Mahavir Jayanti, urging citizens to draw inspiration from the timeless teachings of Bhagwan Mahavir to foster a more compassionate and harmonious society.
In his message, the Vice President highlighted the enduring relevance of Lord Mahavir’s principles—ahimsa (non-violence), satya (truth), and aparigraha (non-attachment)—emphasizing their power to illuminate humanity’s path in the modern world.
“The eternal teachings of Lord Mahavir continue to guide us toward a compassionate world. His message of equality and respect for diverse perspectives holds profound significance even today,” Dhankhar stated.
He called upon citizens to embrace spiritual discipline, self-restraint, and universal compassion, noting that Mahavir’s ideals serve as a beacon for peace, tolerance, and understanding in contemporary society.
“On this Mahavir Jayanti, let us draw strength from his life and ideals… and nurture tolerance, understanding, and peace in our communities and beyond,” he added.
Mahavir Jayanti, celebrated to commemorate the birth of the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, is observed across the country with reverence and devotion.
