Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government on Sunday transferred 15 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including those heading key administrative and training departments, in a significant reshuffle.
Yogesh Deshmukh, a 1995 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Director General of the Special Police Establishment (SPE) Lokayukta, replacing Jaydeep Prashad, also from the 1995 batch. Prashad will now serve as Additional Director General (ADG) of the State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB).

Adarsh Katiyar, a 1992 batch IPS officer and former Special Director General of Police (Telecommunication) at the state police headquarters, has been reassigned as Special Director General (Administration). Additionally, Sonali Mishra, a 1992 batch officer who held the position of ADG (Training) and was overseeing the Madhya Pradesh Police Academy (Bhounri), will now serve as ADG (Selection and Recruitment).
Among other changes, 2010 batch IPS officer Rakesh Singh has been appointed as the new Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Rewa range, replacing 2009 batch IPS officer Saket Prakash Pandey.
The reshuffle follows a violent incident in Mauganj district under the Rewa division on March 15, where a mob attack led to the deaths of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a civilian, along with injuries to six other police officers.
This marks the first major reshuffling of senior IPS officers in Madhya Pradesh since August 2024, when 26 officers were transferred. The state’s Home Department issued the official transfer list, indicating a move aimed at strengthening law enforcement and administrative efficiency.
