Free Movement on Manipur Roads from March 8, Strict Action Against Obstruction: HM Amit Shah

New Delhi- Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, chaired a high-level review meeting on the security situation in Manipur today. The meeting, held in New Delhi, was attended by the Governor of Manipur, senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Army, intelligence agencies, and paramilitary forces.

During the meeting, Shri Amit Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in Manipur under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He directed authorities to ensure free movement on all roads in Manipur from March 8, 2025, and take strict action against anyone attempting to create obstructions.

The Home Minister also stressed the need for strict action in all cases of extortion and called for the swift completion of fencing along designated entry points on Manipur’s international border. Additionally, he emphasized dismantling the entire network involved in the drug trade to make Manipur a drug-free state.

The government continues to monitor the situation closely and remains focused on stabilizing the region with necessary assistance.
