Indian Student in Coma After US Accident; Family Seeks Visa to Visit Her

Satara- An Indian student, Neelam Shinde, has been in a coma after being hit by a car in the United States on February 14. Her family in Maharashtra has urged the Centre to help them secure a visa to visit her.

Shinde, 35, a resident of Satara district, is currently in the ICU, while the police have arrested the driver involved in the accident.

Her father, Tanaji Shinde, said the family learned about the incident on February 16 and has been struggling to obtain a visa since then.

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule has sought External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s intervention to expedite the visa process for Shinde’s father. Sule raised the issue on social media and emphasized the urgency of the matter.

The External Affairs Ministry is yet to respond to the request.
