Mayawati: True BSP Successor Must Dedicate Life to Party’s Strengthening

Lucknow, 17th Feb. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Sunday asserted that the true successor of the party and its movement must be someone who, like Kanshi Ram’s disciple, dedicates their life to strengthening the organization, enduring all hardships along the way.

Her comments come just days after the expulsion of Ashok Siddharth, the father-in-law of her nephew Akash Anand, from the party over allegations of factionalism and anti-party activities.

Anand, 30, who currently serves as BSP’s national coordinator, has been recognized as Mayawati’s political successor. Though she dismissed him from the party last year, Anand was later reinstated and appointed as her political heir.

In a series of posts on X, Mayawati reaffirmed the BSP’s foundational principles, established by Kanshi Ram based on the ideals of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. She emphasized that the party and its movement prioritize the empowerment of the Bahujan community over self-interest and personal relationships. “Following his footsteps, as a disciple and successor of Kanshi Ram ji, I too will continue to struggle and make sacrifices till my last breath so that the Bahujan Samaj can stand on its own, free from political slavery and social helplessness,” Mayawati stated.

Mayawati also emphasized that the true successor of the BSP is one who, much like Kanshi Ram’s disciple, fully commits to the party’s progress, enduring every challenge and pain along the journey.

She called on BSP office-bearers and workers across the country to uphold accountability, loyalty, and honesty, while adhering strictly to party discipline. Urging them to focus on grassroots-level organization and expanding the party’s support base, she highlighted that BSP remains the only beacon of hope for the Bahujan Samaj. “The party must strengthen itself to ensure future electoral success,” Mayawati said.
