Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized the strength and self-reliance of farmers, stating that they should not depend on external assistance. Addressing the Akhil Mewar Region Jat Mahasabha in Chittorgarh on Sunday, he highlighted farmers’ crucial role in India’s progress, asserting that today’s governance system respects and bows to them.

“When the economic situation of farmers improves, the country prospers. Farmers are the providers, and they should not seek help because they possess both political strength and economic capability,” he said.

Recalling the Jat reservation movement of 1999, Dhankhar acknowledged the success of the struggle for social justice and urged those who have benefitted from reservations to remember society’s support in their journey. He praised the peaceful nature of the movement, contrasting it with violent agitations elsewhere.

The Vice President also encouraged farmers to take full advantage of Agricultural Science Centers and modern farming techniques, urging them to engage in value addition and trade of agricultural products. He stressed the importance of cooperatives and expanding the dairy industry beyond milk to processed products like yogurt, paneer, and ice cream.

Calling on the youth to enter agriculture-related businesses, Dhankhar said, “Agricultural production is the world’s largest and most valuable trade. Farmers should actively participate in it and ensure long-term economic benefits.”
