BJP’s Victory in Delhi ‘Not Surprising,’ Says MP Kamaljeet Sherawat

New Delhi, 8th Feb. As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) heads towards a decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, party MP Kamaljeet Sherawat on Saturday termed the outcome as “not surprising” and criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its “poor” performance over the past 12 years.

“The numbers are not surprising. AAP failed Delhi in development and social welfare. They had no vision for the national capital,” Sherawat said, adding that the people of Delhi have long been deprived of basic facilities.

She also accused former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of obstructing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development initiatives. “When PM Modi introduced the Ayushman Bharat scheme to provide healthcare services, he gave cards to everyone. But Kejriwal blocked its implementation in Delhi. He did nothing on his own, and when PM Modi tried to help, he stopped him too,” Sherawat alleged.

Expressing confidence in BJP’s governance, she assured that Delhi would witness significant changes within six months. “People of Delhi want development and social welfare. This was expected. A big change is needed, and I assure you that the BJP will bring it. You will be proud of voting for us,” she said.

As per initial counting trends, the BJP is leading in 41 seats, while the AAP is ahead in 29 seats. Congress is yet to secure a lead in any constituency. The counting of votes began at 8 am across all 70 assembly constituencies under tight security.
