New Delhi, 16th Jan.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its fourth list of candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, naming nine contenders for various constituencies. Among the key candidates, Shikha Rai will challenge Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj in Greater Kailash, while Anil Vashishth is set to take on senior AAP leader Gopal Rai in Babarpur.

The BJP has announced candidates for 68 out of 70 seats, leaving two seats for its allies. Notable names from the fourth list include:

  • Ravinder Kumar (Indraj) – Bawana (SC)
  • Poonam Sharma – Wazirpur
  • Bhuvan Tanwar – Delhi Cantonment
  • Chandan Kumar Choudhary – Sangam Vihar
  • Shikha Rai – Greater Kailash
  • Ravikant Ujjain – Trilokpuri (SC)
  • Sanjay Goyal – Shahdara
  • Anil Vashishth – Babarpur
  • Praveen Nimesh – Gokalpur (SC)

In parallel, the Congress also finalized its list of candidates on Thursday. Lokendra Chaudhary will contest from Timarpur, and Suresh Wati Chauhan is fielded from Rohtas Nagar. Mahila Congress chief Alka Lamba has been chosen to contest from Kalkaji against Chief Minister Atishi, while former MP Sandeep Dikshit will take on ex-CM Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency.

Delhi’s Assembly election, scheduled for February 5, is shaping up to be a three-pronged battle among the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the BJP, and the Congress. The AAP is vying for a third consecutive term in power, while the Congress seeks to regain its former stronghold after losing all seats in previous elections.

Key dates for the election process include January 17 as the deadline for filing nominations, January 18 for scrutiny, and January 20 as the last date for withdrawal of candidature. The results will be announced on February 8.

The BJP’s strategy reflects its intent to challenge the AAP’s governance while capitalizing on Congress’ weakened position. Political analysts predict an intense electoral contest in the national capital.
