New Delhi, 15th Jan.
The Delhi Police has lodged five separate FIRs against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leaders, accusing them of inflammatory social media posts, discriminatory statements, and violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Details of the FIRs

  1. Inflammatory Remarks Against PM and HM:
An FIR filed on January 13 accuses AAP of circulating a social media post targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The post allegedly featured provocative remarks and caricatures, violating the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the IT Act, the Representation of the People Act, and the MCC.
  2. Morphed Voice of Home Minister:
Another FIR accuses AAP of sharing a fabricated audio clip purportedly of Home Minister Shah, intended to spread misinformation and incite communal tensions. The post allegedly contained unverified claims to tarnish his reputation.
  3. Defamatory Content Against the PM:
A third FIR highlights posts from January 9 and 10 that allegedly featured altered images and derogatory references to the Prime Minister’s residence, with claims designed to mislead the public.
  4. False Luxury Claims:
The fourth FIR accuses an AAP member of tweeting false claims about luxury facilities in the Prime Minister’s official residence, intended to mislead voters and harm the PM’s office’s reputation.
  5. Discriminatory Statements:
The fifth FIR alleges that AAP leaders made inflammatory comments targeting people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, violating provisions of the BNS and the Representation of the People Act.

Separate Complaint Against CM Atishi

A separate complaint was filed against Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi for allegedly misusing a government vehicle for election campaigning in the Kalkaji constituency. The FIR, registered at Govindpuri police station, follows allegations that a Public Works Department (PWD) vehicle was used for political purposes.

Atishi refuted the allegations, questioning the Election Commission’s impartiality. “Despite clear violations by BJP leaders, no action has been taken against them. This raises questions about fairness,” she stated.

BJP’s Allegations

BJP leaders have accused AAP of exploiting social media to spread misinformation and create communal tensions ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5.
