BJP Questions AAP Over Alleged Links to NGO in Delhi School Bomb Threat Case

New Delhi, 14th Jan: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called upon Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal to clarify his party’s alleged links to individuals implicated in sending bomb threats to over 400 schools in Delhi.

This comes after Delhi Police reported that a Class-12 student sent hoax bomb threats and revealed that the student’s parents were connected to an NGO allegedly supportive of a political party. While police refrained from naming the party, the BJP has directly linked the allegations to AAP.

BJP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi alleged ideological similarities between AAP and NGOs involved in activities he termed “anti-national.” He accused AAP of fostering connections with groups supportive of individuals like Afzal Guru, a Parliament attack convict.

BJP’s Allegations
Trivedi claimed the investigation hinted at a “direct link” between the accused NGOs and AAP leadership, further questioning Chief Minister Atishi Marlena’s family for their alleged support of clemency for Afzal Guru. He also criticized AAP’s handling of cases like the JNU “tukde-tukde” slogan incident.

Virendra Sachdeva, BJP’s Delhi unit chief, labeled the threats a “conspiracy” to create fear ahead of the elections, asserting that “AAP’s links with the said NGO will eventually surface.”

AAP’s Response
AAP leaders dismissed the accusations as politically motivated. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh mocked Trivedi, calling him the “newly appointed Delhi Police Commissioner,” and accused the BJP of fabricating stories to influence the upcoming Assembly elections.

Singh pointed out that the first bomb threat was reported eight months ago, questioning the BJP’s timing in raising the issue just weeks before the polls. He reiterated that no concrete evidence had been presented by the police to substantiate the BJP’s claims.

As the election battle intensifies, this development has added a contentious dimension, with both parties trading barbs while Delhiites await clarity on the case.
