New Delhi, 3rd Jan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several transformative development projects in Delhi. The event marked a significant leap forward in the capital’s infrastructure, housing, and education sectors. Speaking to a large gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to making India the world’s third-largest economy by 2025.
Among the notable initiatives, PM Modi inaugurated 1,675 newly constructed flats for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) at Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar. “Today is a landmark day for Delhi, with housing, infrastructure, and education projects that will accelerate the city’s development,” the Prime Minister said.
Addressing the crowd, the Prime Minister underscored that the central government had begun a nationwide campaign to replace slums with permanent housing. “The dream of a pucca house is becoming a reality for millions, and Delhi has an essential role in achieving this vision,” Modi emphasized. He also announced the construction of nearly 3,000 new houses in the city and vowed to build thousands more in the coming years.
In education, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of the National Education Policy (NEP) in providing new opportunities for children from underprivileged backgrounds. “The new National Education Policy is creating a clearer path for children from poor families to become doctors, engineers, and professionals,” he said.
The Prime Minister also criticized the Delhi state government for its failure to effectively manage funds allocated for education, citing corruption and inefficiency as major hindrances to progress. He also called out the state for not implementing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, which would provide free healthcare to Delhi’s elderly.
Additionally, Modi spoke on the ongoing infrastructure development in Delhi, including piped natural gas for every home, new highways, and expressways to reduce traffic congestion. “These developments are crucial to improving the lives of Delhi’s residents,” he remarked.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Union Ministers Manohar Lal and Dharmendra Pradhan, as well as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinay Kumar Saxena.
