Mumbai, 29th Dec. The Indian initial public offering (IPO) market is set to continue its strong performance in 2025, building on the impressive momentum of 2024. Analysts predict a vibrant year ahead, with diverse opportunities for investors across emerging and traditional sectors.

2024: A Record Year for IPOs
In 2024, India witnessed 96 mainline IPOs and 241 SME offerings, collectively raising ₹1.71 trillion, according to Prime Database. This surge reflects growing investor confidence and the robustness of the Indian primary market.

Ajay Garg, CEO of SMC Global Securities, highlighted the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s (Sebi) efforts to ensure quality in SME IPOs and foster a trustworthy environment. “Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) were net buyers in the primary market, investing ₹1.03 trillion in IPOs due to fair pricing and reasonable valuations,” Garg noted.

2025 Outlook: A Diverse Pipeline
The IPO market in 2025 is expected to feature offerings from innovative sectors like quick commerce, electric vehicles (EVs), and auto-tech. Currently, 24 companies have Sebi approval to launch IPOs, with an additional 62 awaiting clearance. These IPOs are projected to raise ₹1.54 trillion.

Among the approved IPOs are National Securities Depository (NSDL), Ecom Express, SK Finance, Avanse Financial Services, and Manjushree Technopark. Companies awaiting Sebi’s nod include LG Electronics India, Ather Energy, Dr. Agarwal’s Health Care, JSW Cement, and HDB Financial Services.

India: A Global IPO Leader
Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP at Mehta Equities, emphasized India’s leadership in global IPO activity, outpacing the US and Europe. “The momentum in 2025 will likely be driven by strong subscription demand, impressive listing gains, and a growing retail investor base,” Tapse stated.

The retail investor count surged to 108.5 million by November 2024, with 3.5 million new investors entering the market, according to the NSE. Despite secondary market volatility, this growth underscores the resilience of India’s financial ecosystem.

Investor Enthusiasm and Economic Growth
With robust retail and institutional participation, the IPO market in 2025 is expected to remain a key attraction for both domestic and global investors. Analysts believe this vibrant market activity will further bolster India’s economic growth trajectory.

As Tapse remarked, “The enthusiasm across sectors reaffirms India’s position as a focal point for investment opportunities, paving the way for sustained economic progress.”
