PM Narendra Modi Launches LIC’s Bima Sakhi Yojana

Panipat, 10th Dec. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Bima Sakhi Yojana of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) today, marking another major step toward women empowerment and financial inclusion. The launch took place in Panipat, Haryana, where PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for the main campus of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University, Karnal.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi emphasized that the Indian government has taken unprecedented steps for women’s empowerment in the last decade. “To empower women, it is very important that they get ample opportunities to move forward and every obstacle in their way is removed,” he said. Modi also noted that India is moving forward with the resolve to develop by 2047 and highlighted the role of women in the nation’s growth.

The launch of the Bima Sakhi Yojana aims to create employment opportunities for women across the country by making them agents in the insurance sector. PM Modi stated that the scheme targets training and financially supporting two lakh women, particularly those who have completed class 10. He also mentioned that insurance agents in the LIC earn an average of ₹15,000 per month, with Bima Sakhis expected to earn over ₹1.75 lakh annually.

“Women have always been at the forefront of the social change in our country. This initiative will not only create new opportunities for them but will also contribute to our vision of Insurance for All,” Modi said, highlighting the government’s broader commitment to financial inclusion.

The Prime Minister also reflected on India’s journey since independence, emphasizing the importance of creating new opportunities for women. “India’s daughters are now becoming fighter pilots, joining the police force, and leading corporate companies,” he said, reinforcing that the nation’s future is closely tied to the empowerment of women.

In addition to women’s empowerment, PM Modi laid the foundation for the new campus of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University, which will bolster Haryana’s role in horticultural education and innovation. He also expressed his gratitude to the people of Haryana for their continued support and noted the state’s positive growth trajectory under the leadership of the current government.

The event also marked the ongoing celebration of the International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav in Haryana, with PM Modi paying homage to the sacred land of Kurukshetra. He also reiterated his government’s commitment to improving the lives of farmers, women, and youth across the country, assuring that Haryana’s progress will accelerate in the coming years.

The event was attended by Governor of Haryana Bandaru Dattatreya, Chief Minister of Haryana Nayab Singh Saini, and several Union Ministers, including Nirmala Sitharaman and Manohar Lal.
