New Delhi, 29th Nov. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the tragic bus accident in Gondia, Maharashtra. In a statement shared via the Prime Minister’s Office on social media platform X, he extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of those who lost their lives and ₹50,000 for the injured.
The PM’s Office wrote, “Distressed by the loss of lives in the bus mishap in Gondia, Maharashtra. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected. An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given ₹50,000: PM @narendramodi.”
The accident, which occurred on the Kohmara State Highway near Khajri village, resulted in nine fatalities and left several passengers injured.
Local authorities have been mobilized to provide necessary support to the victims and their families.
