PM Modi Embarks on Five-Day Visit to Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana

New Delhi, 16th Nov. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin a five-day official visit to Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana, strengthening India’s diplomatic ties with these key nations.

The visit to Nigeria, at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marks Modi’s first trip to the West African nation. During his visit, the Prime Minister will focus on advancing the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, grounded in their shared commitment to democracy and pluralism. He will also meet the Indian community in Nigeria and engage with friends from the country who have extended warm welcomes.

In Brazil, Modi will participate in the 19th G-20 Summit as part of the Troika, continuing India’s leadership legacy from its successful Presidency last year. This year, Brazil is carrying forward India’s initiatives and will host discussions on the summit’s theme, “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” Modi is also expected to hold bilateral talks with other leaders to further enhance India’s global engagements.

The Prime Minister’s visit to Guyana is historic, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in over five decades. Invited by President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, the visit will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of shared heritage, culture, and values. Modi will also pay tribute to Guyana’s Indian diaspora, which has been present in the country for over 185 years, and address the Guyanese Parliament.

Additionally, Modi will join leaders from the Caribbean nations at the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit to renew historical ties and explore new avenues for cooperation. This summit will further deepen India’s relationship with its Caribbean partners, emphasizing mutual growth and solidarity.
