Udaipur, 16th Nov. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday celebrated the contributions of tribal communities and emphasized the need to respect their culture at both national and international levels.
Addressing the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram in Udaipur, the Vice President described the tribal community as “the pride of India.”
Dhankhar stressed the importance of preserving tribal cultural heritage, warning against attempts to “lure and change the beliefs” of tribal communities. “Our cultural heritage is our foundation. If the foundation shakes, no building is safe,” he cautioned, urging vigilance against conspiratorial efforts to erode tribal faiths.
Highlighting the teachings of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, he said, “‘Jal, Jungle, Zameen’ (Water, Forest, Land) are not just words but a way of life,” underlining their relevance for sustainable living and environmental respect.
The Vice President also hailed the appointment of Droupadi Murmu as India’s President, calling it a symbol of tribal pride and inclusivity in Indian democracy. He expressed optimism about India’s economic progress, noting the country’s position as the fifth-largest economy and projecting it to become the third-largest by 2027.
Speaking to the youth, Dhankhar urged them to prioritize education, stating that India’s development relies on their potential. “There is no shortage of resources for your development. You are the architects of India’s transformation,” he said.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Rajasthan ministers and tribal leaders, underscoring the significance of Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s legacy in India’s tribal and national identity.
