Latur, Maharashtra, 14th Nov Campaigning in Latur on Wednesday for BJP candidate Archana Patil Chakurkar, Union Minister Piyush Goyal alleged that the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has relied on divisive politics led by leaders like Sharad Pawar and the Congress. Goyal asserted that public sentiment has shifted towards the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and predicted a strong victory in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. “Reports indicate a massive victory for Mahayuti, bringing in a stable and strong government in Maharashtra,” Goyal stated.
He went on to critique the MVA’s tactics in previous elections, saying that their slim margin in the Lok Sabha polls relied on a “fake narrative” to mislead voters. Goyal contrasted this with the “double-engine” government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mahayuti, which he said has brought significant benefits to Maharashtra’s farmers. He also criticized the Deshmukh family, alleging a history of “dynastic and dishonest politics” in Latur.
In Latur, BJP’s Archana Patil Chakurkar, daughter-in-law of former Lok Sabha Speaker and Congress leader Shivraj Patil, is competing against Congress MLA Amit Deshmukh, son of former Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. The race is seen as a test of Mahayuti’s ability to challenge longstanding dynastic influence in the region.
Echoing Goyal’s optimism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, at a rally in Jalgaon, expressed confidence that the Mahayuti would secure victory on November 23. Shah remarked, “Aghadi’s reign will end, and a Mahayuti government will be formed.”
As campaigning intensifies across Maharashtra’s 288 assembly seats, both the ruling Mahayuti and the opposition MVA are ramping up their appeals to voters. The elections are set for November 20, with counting on November 23, setting the stage for a highly anticipated contest.
