UP Assembly Bypolls: BSP Announces Candidates for 8 Seats

GG News Bureau
Lucknow, 24th Oct. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), led by Mayawati, announced candidates for eight of the nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh where bypolls are scheduled for November 13. The party has fielded Amit Verma from Katehari (Ambedkar Nagar), Jitendra Kumar Singh from Phulpur (Prayagraj), Shahnazar from Meerapur (Muzaffarnagar), and Virendra Kumar Shukla from Sisamau (Kanpur).

Additionally, Dr. Avinash Kumar Shakya will contest from Karhal (Mainpuri), Rafatullah from Kundarki (Moradabad), Parmanand Garg from Ghaziabad, and Deepak Tiwari from Majahawan (Mirzapur). The BSP’s announcement comes just a day before the deadline for filing nominations.

The party has not yet declared its candidate for Khair (Aligarh). The bypolls were necessitated after representatives from these constituencies were elected to the Lok Sabha. The Sisamau seat specifically became vacant following the disqualification of Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki due to a criminal conviction.

While the Election Commission has yet to announce a bypoll for Milkipur (Ayodhya) due to ongoing legal proceedings, the Samajwadi Party has already declared candidates for Karhal, Sisamau, Phulpur, Katehari, Majahawan, and Meerapur. The BJP has also announced candidates for seven of the eight seats.

Votes for the bypolls will be counted on November 23.
