New Delhi, 16th Oct. The Supreme Court of India is set to address several important cases on Wednesday, October 16.
Among the key matters, the court will consider the plea from State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank (PNB), and others challenging an NCLAT ruling that allows the Jalan Kalrock Consortium (JKC) to take over the grounded airline Jet Airways under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).
In another pressing issue, the court will hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) related to air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region, highlighting ongoing environmental concerns.
Additionally, the court will address a plea from the Bihar government and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) against a Patna High Court decision that annulled a resolution to increase quotas for government jobs and educational admissions.
The Supreme Court is also expected to hear challenges against the Bihar government’s decision to conduct a caste survey.
Further, it will consider separate pleas from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and the NCP-SP, contesting the Maharashtra assembly speaker’s decisions that recognize groups led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar as the legitimate Shiv Sena and NCP, respectively.
Lastly, the court will address pleas from high court judges, including Justice R P Mishra of the Patna High Court, regarding the non-payment of salaries.
