New Delhi, 3rd Oct. Actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu on Wednesday slammed Telangana Minister Konda Surekha for her controversial remarks, accusing senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao of being the reason behind their divorce. The actors dismissed the minister’s claims as “absolutely ridiculous” and called them false.
Naga Chaitanya, who parted ways with Samantha two years ago and recently got engaged to actor Sobhita Dhulipala, strongly condemned Surekha’s statements. He described divorce as one of the “most painful and unfortunate life decisions” anyone can make and said that the decision to part ways was mutual and peaceful, driven by different life goals.
“Exploiting the personal lives of celebrities for media headlines is shameful,” Chaitanya said, rejecting the minister’s remarks as baseless and unacceptable.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu also responded, urging the minister to show responsibility and respect privacy, stressing that her divorce was a mutual and amicable decision with no political conspiracy involved. “Please leave me out of political battles,” she wrote on Instagram, criticizing the speculation and misrepresentation surrounding her personal life.
Veteran Telugu actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya’s father, also condemned the comments as irrelevant and false. He called on Konda Surekha to withdraw her remarks and respect the privacy of movie stars who choose to stay away from politics.
In response to the backlash, Konda Surekha clarified that her comments were aimed at addressing the issue of women’s dignity and not meant to hurt Samantha. She issued an unconditional apology, retracting her statements if they offended Samantha or her fans.
