New Delhi, 13th Sept. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the National Board of Examinations (NBE) regarding a plea for transparency in the NEET-PG 2024 selection process. The notice comes in response to a petition seeking the disclosure of answer keys and question papers from the NEET-PG 2024 exam held on August 11.
A bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, reviewed the plea filed by MBBS doctor Ishika Jain and others. The petitioners argue that the release of answer keys and question papers is crucial for ensuring transparency and addressing concerns raised by students about discrepancies in the ranking process.
The NEET-PG exam, conducted for admissions into postgraduate medical courses, saw results announced by NBE on August 23. Following the results, students expressed concerns over unexpectedly low rankings and discrepancies when comparing their scores with unofficial answer keys. They have urged the NBE to release the official answer keys and establish a grievance portal to resolve these issues.
Senior advocate Vibha Makhija, representing the petitioners, emphasized that without access to the question papers and answer keys, candidates are unable to accurately assess their performance.
The Supreme Court bench, which initially directed the petitioners to approach the Delhi High Court, eventually issued a notice to the NBE and scheduled a hearing for September 20.
