New Delhi, 13th Sept. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is experiencing a surge in network demand, particularly as competitors like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone have increased their recharge rates. In response, BSNL is rolling out new plans to expand its network, including both 4G and 5G services.
Central Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently announced that BSNL is set to launch its 4G network soon. The company has partnered with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which is establishing a new data center to support the rollout. BSNL plans to install 100,000 4G towers by mid-next year, with work accelerating this year to meet this target. Currently, BSNL has installed 25,000 4G towers and aims to reach 75,000 sites by Diwali 2024.
BSNL is pioneering the establishment of an entirely Indian 4G network, setting itself apart from other operators like Jio, which used Samsung’s technology for its 4G network. The company has also completed its 5G trials and is conducting tests in several locations.
In a recent update, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) shared a photo showing MTNL’s 5G network deployment, which is currently operational in Delhi and Mumbai. An agreement between BSNL and MTNL means that BSNL will be overseeing this network, consolidating its role in providing both 4G and 5G services.
Tata is playing a crucial role in BSNL’s 4G rollout, and the company is also working on 6G patents. Despite a decreased user base, BSNL is committed to revitalizing its network by 2025, though some delays are possible. Recent reports suggest that BSNL will roll out its 5G network by next year, promising users high-speed connectivity at competitive prices.
As BSNL continues to enhance its network infrastructure, users can expect improved service and affordability in the near future.
