Jabalpur, 7th Sept. Two coaches of the Indore-Jabalpur Express derailed on Saturday morning while approaching Jabalpur station in Madhya Pradesh, railway officials confirmed. The incident occurred around 5:40 a.m., but fortunately, no passengers were injured.

The derailment happened as the train was approaching platform number 6, approximately 50 meters away from the platform. The derailed coaches were located just behind the engine. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Madhur Verma stated that the train, scheduled to arrive at 5:35 a.m., derailed at 5:38 a.m. The loco pilot’s quick action in stopping the train prevented further damage.

Following the derailment, passengers disembarked, and traffic on the adjacent tracks was halted for about 30 minutes. Restoration work is ongoing, and a multi-departmental inquiry committee has been set up to investigate the cause of the incident.

According to Harshit Shrivastava, Chief Public Relations Officer of the West Central Railway (WCR), the train was moving at a dead-stop speed of 5 kmph when the derailment occurred. The incident led to the temporary closure of platform number six, but railway traffic on other routes remained unaffected. Efforts are underway to re-rail the derailed coaches and resume normal operations.
