Pune, 19th July. Manorama Khedkar, mother of trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar, has been remanded to police custody until July 20. This decision comes amid Puja Khedkar facing mounting legal issues linked to a fake certificate controversy.

The Pune police have detained Manorama Khedkar in connection with a land dispute case, where she is accused of threatening individuals with a gun. Authorities apprehended her in Mahad, Raigad district, Maharashtra, after a video surfaced showing her intimidating people in Pune’s Mulshi tehsil.

The Paud police in Pune (Rural) have filed a case against Manorama, her husband Dilip Khedkar, and five others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 323, as well as sections of the Arms Act. Pune (Rural) Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh confirmed the arrest, revealing that Manorama was found hiding in a lodge in Hirkanwadi, Mahad, under a false identity.

Following her arrest, Manorama was transported to the Paud police station in Pune district. Meanwhile, her daughter Puja Khedkar remains under scrutiny for alleged discrepancies in disability and OBC certificates submitted during her IAS examination. Additionally, her conduct during her tenure at the Pune Collector’s office is being investigated.

In light of the ongoing controversy, the government has suspended Puja Khedkar’s district training program and directed her to report to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration by July 23.
