IKS in National Education Policy of India is a strategic move to foster a sense of identity and pride among learners

New Delhi, June 25. “Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in National Education Policy (NEP) of India is a strategic move to foster a sense of identity and pride among learners,” believes, Former Vice Chancellor Professor Madan Mohan Goel known as Propounder Needonomics School of Thought superannuated Professor of Economics from Kurukshetra University. He was addressing Online NEP Orientation and Sensitization Programme organized by Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) National Institute of Educational Planning & Administration (NIEPA) Delhi in collaboration with Shyam Lal College (University of Delhi) on the topic ‘ Indian Knowledge System: Relevance of Gita-based Needonomics and Anu-Gita ’. Professor Mona Khare Director MMTTC presided over the event. Programme Batch Coordinator Ms. Shivali Kharbanda, Associate Professor, SLC delivered the welcome address and presented citation on the achievements of Prof. M.M .Goel.
In knowledge economy, Saraswati the goddess of knowledge, creativity, learning and wisdom rules to help us generate Lakshmi, wealth and prosperity, believes Prof Goel.
Goddess Saraswati uses a swan as her vehicle which has a sensitive beak that enables it to distinguish milk from a mixture of milk and water and symbolizes the power to discriminate between good and bad, valuable and useless, told Prof. Goel.
To swim across the waters of life, the use of swan as vehicle by Saraswati demonstrates the critical need for a strong power of judgment, and that we must apply knowledge with discrimination for the good of self and society, mentioned Prof Goel.
We must understand Gita-based needonomics for needo-lifestyle taken from logo of LIC of India ‘Yogakshemam Vahamyaham’ based on sloka no 22 of Ch. 9 of Gita as common sense approach is ethical, nonviolent, environmental friendly and spiritual in nature , explained Prof Goel.
We can develop critical thinking and wisdom by becoming deserving children of Goddess Saraswati and must note that where Saraswati resides, Goddess Lakshmi soon arrives, told Prof Goel.
To script a new narrative of education based on Indian Knowledge System, we must become street SMART (simple, moral, action-oriented, responsive, and transparent), explained Prof. Goel.
