Indore, 22nd June. Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore city was briefly thrown into a security scare after authorities received a hoax bomb threat via email on Friday. The incident prompted a coordinated response from airport officials, local police, and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Alok Kumar Sharma confirmed that an unidentified individual had sent an email threatening a bomb blast at the airport. “Upon receiving the threat, airport authorities immediately implemented security protocols, including conducting a thorough security drill in collaboration with local police and CISF,” ADCP Sharma stated.
Following a comprehensive investigation by law enforcement agencies, including scrutiny of the threat’s credibility, it was determined that the threat was unfounded.
“A case has been registered under section 507 of the IPC (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) against the unidentified person responsible for the threatening email,” ADCP Sharma added.
This incident marks the second such threat received by Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport this month. Earlier on June 19, authorities reported a similar bomb threat received through email, prompting a police investigation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Zone 1) Vinod Kumar Meena noted that the earlier threat also included references to other cities across the country. “Investigations are ongoing, and efforts include seeking information from Gmail authorities to trace the origins of the threatening emails,” DCP Meena stated. He emphasized that while such threats have occurred in the past, each instance is treated with utmost seriousness and rigorously investigated.
