New Delhi, 20th June. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a significant advisory urging airports and airlines to enhance gender diversity within their organizations. The circular titled ‘Gender Equality in Civil Aviation Sector’ aims to achieve a minimum representation of 25% women in various positions by 2025.

According to the circular, the initiative aligns with constitutional principles and the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s vision for equal opportunities. It advises stakeholders to actively promote vacancies to female candidates, offering flexible work conditions and encouraging applications.

Furthermore, the advisory suggests implementing leadership and mentorship programs for women, combating stereotypes, and ensuring a supportive work-life balance. Airlines and airports are directed to adopt zero-tolerance policies against sexual harassment and develop inclusive HR policies.

Additionally, the DGCA calls for diversifying women’s roles, showcasing female role models, and creating rehiring programs for those who took breaks due to parenting or other life cycle needs.
