The main event for IDY 2024 will be hosted in Srinagar, with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi leading the celebrations, continuing his tradition of promoting yoga on a global stage. In a significant move towards inclusivity, Minister Jadhav launched the ‘Common Yoga Protocol Book in Braille’ to aid the visually impaired in learning and practicing yoga effectively. Additionally, he unveiled the ‘Professor Ayushman Comic Book for Children’, aimed at fostering interest in yoga among younger audiences.

The celebrations this year will include a unique initiative by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), where scientists and officials will participate in yoga sessions as part of the ‘Yoga for Space’ program.

Reflecting on IDY’s journey, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ayush, highlighted its role in promoting holistic health and unity, emphasizing the ‘Whole of Government’ approach and active participation of state governments and union territories.

To engage the masses, the Ministry has launched various contests and activities, including the “Yoga with Family” Video Contest, encouraging global participation through platforms like MyGov and MyBharat.
