GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 2nd May.
Nominations for the prestigious Padma Awards-2025 have officially commenced, inviting recommendations for individuals deserving of recognition for their exceptional contributions to various fields. The online nominations for the Padma Awards 2025, which include the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, began today and will continue until September 15, 2024.

These awards, instituted in 1954, are amongst the highest civilian honors in India and are announced annually on Republic Day. They aim to acknowledge individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements or services across diverse domains such as Art, Literature, Sports, Medicine, Science, and Social Work, among others.

The call for nominations emphasizes inclusivity, encouraging recommendations for individuals irrespective of their background, occupation, or gender. However, government officials, excluding doctors and scientists, are ineligible for these awards.

The government’s vision is to transform the Padma Awards into a representation of the people’s choices. Therefore, citizens are urged to participate actively in the nomination process, including self-nomination. Efforts are particularly encouraged to identify talent among women, marginalized sections of society, SCs & STs, and persons with disabilities, who are making significant contributions to society.

Nominations should provide comprehensive details as per the specified format, including a narrative citation highlighting the nominee’s distinguished achievements or services (up to 800 words) in their respective field.

Interested individuals can access further information and guidelines on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in) and the Ministry of Home Affairs website (https://mha.gov.in). The statutes and rules pertaining to these awards are also available on the Padma Awards Portal (https://padmaawards.gov.in).
