Army Dental Centre (R&R) Marks 25th Anniversary with Special Postal Cover Release

 On May 1, 2024, the Army Dental Centre of Research & Referral (ADC R&R) commemorated its 25th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its journey of excellence. Lieutenant General MK Katiyar, General Officer Commanding in Chief of Western Command, graced the occasion by visiting the Dental Centre and unveiling a Special Postal Cover to celebrate the event.

Accompanied by Director General Dental Services Lt. Gen Vineet Sharma and former Commandants of the Centre, Lt. Gen Katiyar honored the achievements and initiatives of ADC R&R, highlighting its evolution into a leading institution in dental education, research, and patient care.

ADC R&R, recognized as the largest dental establishment of the Armed Forces, offers postgraduate training in five specialties of dentistry, including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Periodontics and Oral Implantology, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, and Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics.

The dentists at ADC R&R have made significant advancements in dentistry, showcasing expertise in specialist procedures such as Cranioplasty, TMJ Arthroscopy, and other complex surgeries.

Moreover, the centre has pioneered the use of Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen minimal sedation for anxiolysis & analgesia during minor oral surgical & rehabilitative treatment across all age groups in the Armed Forces. Additionally, it is the sole centre in the Armed Forces utilizing intraoral scanners for Computer-Aided Designing (CAD), Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Prosthesis fabrication.

ADC R&R’s library, equipped with RFID technology, offers extensive digital access to journals and books. The institution also regularly hosts ‘The Major General RN Dogra Memorial Oration,’ featuring renowned figures in dentistry, with this year’s oration delivered by Major General GK Thapliyal, (Retd), Vice Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, on the topic “India that is Bharat.”

During his visit, Lt. Gen Katiyar interacted with personnel from all ranks, commending the dental centre for its exemplary service and urging continued dedication to delivering elite care to soldiers, their families, and veterans. He applauded the staff for their unwavering commitment to enhancing patient care facilities, encouraging them to maintain their professional zeal.
