New Delhi, 17th April. A minor fire broke out in Room No. 209 of the North Block, housing the International Cooperation Division of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoP&T), at approximately 9:15 AM on April 16, 2024.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, which was swiftly contained by the coordinated efforts of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Public Works Department (CPWD), and Delhi Fire Services.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from a short circuit in the electrical equipment within the room. Despite the potential for damage, the joint efforts of the security personnel and fire services ensured that the situation was brought under control within 20 minutes of the outbreak.
Thankfully, no physical records or files were harmed in the fire, minimizing the impact on official operations. However, some furniture items and equipment sustained partial damage due to the incident.
The timely response and effective collaboration among the security agencies underscore the importance of preparedness and vigilance in averting potential disasters. Authorities are conducting further assessments to ascertain the extent of damage and to implement preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
