“Constant Humiliation”: Congress Spokesperson Rohan Gupta Resigns from Party

GG News Bureau
Ahmedabad, 23rd March.
In a blow to the Congress party just before the parliamentary elections, national spokesperson Rohan Gupta announced his resignation from all positions within the party, citing ongoing humiliation and character attacks.

Gupta, who was previously given a Lok Sabha ticket by the Congress but later withdrew due to his father’s illness, submitted his resignation letter to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge.

In the letter, Gupta expressed his deep distress over the continuous humiliation and character assassination he faced from a senior leader in the party’s Communications department for the past two years. This treatment, especially during a personal crisis, led him to make the difficult decision to leave the party.

Gupta also shared his resignation letter on social media, emphasizing that he needed to speak out against the mistreatment he endured.

He explained that the same leader who targeted him had also damaged the party’s reputation with his disrespectful behavior. Gupta highlighted the importance of addressing such actions to prevent honest workers and leaders from feeling compelled to leave the party.

Regarding his decision to withdraw from the Lok Sabha race, Gupta revealed that his father, Rajkumar Gupta, opposed his candidacy for the Ahmedabad East seat, which he had previously represented for the Congress party. His father’s disapproval and health concerns ultimately influenced Gupta’s choice to step back from the election.

Despite the challenges he faced, Gupta did not disclose the specific reasons behind his father’s objections to his political aspirations.

The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat are scheduled for May 7, with the BJP currently holding all 26 seats in the state following the 2019 elections.
