Mathura, 18th March. A tragic incident unfolded at the Radha Rani temple in Barsana as over 20 people sustained injuries when the railing of a staircase gave way amid a crowd of devotees, according to the temple priest on Monday.
The mishap occurred on Sunday evening while devotees were gathered, patiently awaiting the opening of the temple doors. The temple was bustling with devotees who had congregated for a pre-Holi celebration organized at the site.
The temple priest reported that the railing collapse occurred amidst the fervor of the celebration, leading to injuries among the devotees. Dr. Manoj Vashishtha, overseeing Barsana’s Community Health Centre, confirmed that 22 individuals were brought to the center following the incident, with most of them suffering fractures.
District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar Singh assured that immediate medical assistance was provided to the injured individuals. The authorities swiftly managed the situation, ensuring that the injured received prompt treatment.
Eyewitnesses said that a significant number of devotees were trying to get ‘ladoos,’ a traditional sweet being distributed as part of the temple festivities, when the railing collapsed.
Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the railing collapse, while efforts continue to ensure the safety and well-being of all devotees attending religious gatherings.
