New Delhi, 5th March. Renowned Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan lauded India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, for his recent remark asserting India’s stance as “not a bully” in international relations.
Jaishankar’s statement came in response to a query regarding India’s perceived role in the sub-continent and the Indian Ocean region, posed during an event last week.
In a video shared on his official social media account, Bachchan expressed admiration for Jaishankar’s emphatic response, stating “Wah (wow).. well said Sir,” alongside the viral clip.
Jaishankar’s retort resonated strongly, particularly following recent comments from Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, indirectly referencing India and emphasizing his nation’s sovereign stance against bullying.
Jaishankar countered this narrative by highlighting India’s significant contributions to regional stability and development, particularly through humanitarian aid and cooperative initiatives.
The External Affairs Minister underscored India’s extensive engagement with neighboring countries, citing increased trade, investments, and mutual assistance during times of crisis.
He emphasized India’s commitment to fostering regional connectivity and prosperity, debunking assertions of India adopting a coercive or dominating approach.
Jaishankar’s remarks encapsulated India’s evolving role as a responsible global actor, extending cooperation and support to neighboring nations while upholding principles of mutual respect and sovereignty.
