New Delhi, 4th March. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested six individuals, including two NHAI officers, in connection with an alleged bribery case.
Among the arrested are a General Manager and Project Director at NHAI, PIU Nagpur, deemed as the bribe recipient, and a Deputy General Manager and Project Director at NHAI Harda (MP), alongside two directors and two employees.
The accused from a private company are detained over allegations of a ₹20 lakh bribe. The CBI has recovered approximately ₹1.10 crore, including the bribe sum. The investigation began following accusations that directors of a Bhopal-based private firm offered bribes to NHAI officials through their staff for various favors in road projects.
The inquiry revealed a company employee maintained regular contact with the General Manager and Project Director in Nagpur for expediting pending matters in exchange for bribes related to the Outer Ring Road project.
Allegedly, the private company’s employees facilitated bribes to NHAI officials in Nagpur and different Madhya Pradesh locations. Additionally, a bribe of ₹25 lakh was purportedly intended for the General Manager and Project Director in Nagpur.
Search operations are ongoing at various locations, including offices and residences in Nagpur, Bhopal, and Harda. Authorities have seized approximately ₹1.10 crore in cash, along with pertinent documents and digital devices. The investigation remains ongoing.
