Investigation Launched into Rameshwaram Cafe Blast in Bengaluru, Authorities Assure Prompt Action

Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, said on Friday that the explosion at Rameshwaram cafe is under thorough investigation from all angles, with 7-8 teams formed to probe the incident. The explosion occurred when a youth placed a small bag that detonated after an hour, causing injuries to approximately 10 individuals.

DK Shivakumar urged the people of Bengaluru not to panic, assuring them that it was a low-intensity blast and that every effort is being made to investigate comprehensively. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tejasvi Surya called for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to grant investigative agencies a free hand in the inquiry, criticizing the government’s shifting narratives regarding the blast.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, speaking from Mysuru, emphasized that the perpetrators would be identified and punished, urging opposition parties not to politicize the issue. He assured the public that strict action would be taken against those responsible. Similarly, BJP leader PC Mohan expressed concern over the blast and called for a thorough investigation to ensure public safety.

A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the explosion site, joining Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, State Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara, and DGP Alok Mohan in inspecting the scene. Eyewitnesses, including a security guard from the cafe, recounted the sudden explosion and resulting chaos, highlighting the need for swift action and further details pending investigation.

The Rameshwaram Cafe, a popular hangout spot in Bengaluru, was crowded at the time of the incident, adding urgency to the investigation as authorities work to ensure the safety of citizens and ascertain the cause of the blast.
