Imphal, 30th Dec. A village guard was shot and killed by unidentified men in Kadangband, a village in Manipur’s Imphal West district, at around 3:30 am on Saturday, police said.
The victim, Jamesbond Ningombam, was on duty guarding the village when he was fatally shot by suspected militants who were hiding on a nearby hill.
Ningombam’s body has been taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences for a post-mortem examination, as confirmed by the police.
Kadangband is situated on the outskirts of Imphal West district and shares a border with Kangpokpi district, which has been experiencing ongoing violence since the outbreak of ethnic conflict on May 3.
