Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader Danve Seeks SIT Investigation into Judge Loya’s Death

Mumbai, 12th Dec.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Danve has demanded an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the death of special CBI judge B H Loya. This demand comes amid the government’s decision to initiate a similar probe into the death of Disha Salian.

Loya, who was presiding over the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, reportedly died of a heart attack in Nagpur on December 1, 2014, while attending a colleague’s daughter’s wedding.

During last year’s winter session, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the formation of an SIT to investigate Salian’s death on June 9, 2020.

The Mumbai police have ruled it as a suicide, but some leaders have alleged foul play and implicated Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray in the case.

BJP MLC Pravin Darekar and Prasad Lad have also called for an SIT to clear any doubts surrounding Salian’s case. When asked about the SIT investigation into Disha Salian’s case, Sena (UBT) leader Danve stated that this announcement was made last year as well and multiple investigations have already taken place.

He further demanded an SIT probe into judge Loya’s death, accusing the government of playing politics.

Danve made these statements during a press conference at the Vidhan Bhavan premises in Nagpur, where the winter session of the state legislature is currently underway.

In response to a question about the government’s decision to audit the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Danve suggested that audits should also be conducted for the municipal corporations of Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pune, and Thane.
