Defence Ministry Collaborates with ISB for Scholarship to Ex-Servicemen

In conjunction with the celebration of Armed Forces Flag Day on December 7th, the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence (MoD), has collaborated with the Indian School of Business (ISB) to offer scholarships to military personnel transitioning to civilian life after retirement.

Through this partnership, the ISB will provide a 50% tuition fee waiver to ex-servicemen enrolled in its postgraduate and advanced management programs, amounting to a total of Rs 2.3 crore per year.

This initiative will benefit 22 ex-servicemen annually and aims to enhance their existing skillset by equipping them with the latest and comprehensive management skills.

Vijoy Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, expressed sincere gratitude to the ISB for collaborating with the MoD.

He highlighted that most Armed Forces personnel retire at a relatively young age and possess a strong sense of discipline, enthusiasm, and dedication to serving the country. This opportunity will enable veterans and soon-to-retire personnel to pursue top-notch education at the ISB and play leadership roles in shaping a developed India by 2047.

Professor Madan Pillutla, Dean of the ISB, expressed delight over the collaboration and the chance to contribute further to nation-building.

He emphasized that the 50% tuition fee waiver is a gesture of gratitude towards the Armed Forces personnel who protect the nation with unwavering commitment and unmatched bravery.

The initiative aims to make world-class education more accessible to those dedicated to serving the country, as soldiers possess qualities such as discipline, leadership, and commitment that are essential for success in any significant role.Additionally, the ISB already has a strong presence of over 100 veterans among its alumni, who bring valuable perspectives to the classroom and strengthen the alumni network.
