Amid Rising Covid Cases, Nationwide Drill Begins Today to Assess Preparedness

New Delhi, 10th April. A nationwide drill is planned for today and tomorrow to assess public and private hospital emergency preparedness in the wake of an increase in Covid-19 cases.

The drill will be overseen by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya at the All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Haryana’s Jhajjar.

During last week’s review meeting, Mansukh Mandaviya asked state health ministers to remain vigilant and check the readiness of health facilities.

Regardless of the new variants, he stated that the five-step strategy of ‘Test-Track-Treat-Vaccinate and Adherence to Covid-Appropriate Behavior’ remains the tried-and-true strategy for Covid management.

With COVID-19 cases increasing in most parts of the country in recent days, several states have made masks mandatory again, while others have advised people to be cautious.

As a precautionary measure, Haryana and Puducherry have made wearing face masks in public places mandatory. Masks are also required in Haryana’s schools.

Masks are now mandatory for pregnant women, the elderly, and those suffering from lifestyle diseases in Kerala, while officials in Uttar Pradesh have issued a ‘high-priority’ directive directing officials to ensure international passenger screening at all airports.

Delhi, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh have also urged citizens to follow Covid guidelines.
