Patna, 19th Nov: Twenty-two ministers are set to take the oath of office alongside Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday as the newly elected NDA government prepares for a grand swearing-in ceremony in Bihar, top coalition sources confirmed.
The ministerial lineup includes nine MLAs from the BJP, 10 from the JDU, and one each from Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas), Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awami Morcha, and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
From the BJP, Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Sinha, Nitin Navin, Renu Devi, Mangal Pandey, Neeraj Bablu, Sanjay Sarawagi, Hari Sahni and Rajnish Kumar are expected to take the oath. Eight of these leaders served in the outgoing cabinet. The BJP has structured its list with a focus on caste representation, including Bhumihar, EBC, Brahmin, Rajput, Kayastha and Vaishya communities.
The JDU’s probable ministers include Vijay Choudhary, Shrawan Kumar, Ashok Choudhary, Zama Khan, Ratnesh Sada, Leshi Singh, Bijender Yadav, Shyam Rajak, Sunil Kumar and Damodar Rawat. The party’s selections reflect representation from Dalit, Muslim, Yadav, EBC, Rajput and Bhumihar groups, with eight leaders returning from the previous government.
Among NDA allies, Raju Tiwari from LJP (Ram Vilas), Santosh Suman—son of Jitan Ram Manjhi—and Snehlata Kushwaha, wife of Upendra Kushwaha, are also likely to join the cabinet.
Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as Chief Minister for the 10th time after the NDA secured a decisive win in the Assembly elections, clinching 202 out of 243 seats. The ceremony at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan is being planned as a major show of strength, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Ministers of all BJP-ruled states expected to attend.
