A group of Indian ambassadors has written an open letter, describing Canada’s stand on farmers’ protest as vote bank politics. This letter has been signed by 22 former diplomats of India. Former high commissioner to Canada, Vishnu Prakash is also one of the signatories.
The letter states “Such blatant interference in India’s internal affairs to appease a section of Liberal party’s voter base is completely unacceptable and cannot but cast a long shadow on bilateral relations.”
Former diplomats of India have termed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s remarks on the farmers’ movement as unwarranted and far from ground reality.
Last week while addressing an event organised on the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, Justin Trudeau had expressed concerns about the news of farmers’ protest taking place in India. After that the Indian Government had also expressed strong objection to Justin Trudeau’s statement.
