21-Year-Old NEET Aspirant Dies by Suicide in Kota, 13th Such Case This Year

Kota, 5th Sept. A 21-year-old NEET aspirant from Barsana, Mathura, allegedly died by suicide in Kota on Wednesday, marking the 13th such case among coaching students in the city this year. The student, identified as Parshuram, had moved to Kota just a week ago to prepare for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET).

His landlord, Anoop Kumar, informed police around 11:30 pm after noticing Parshuram’s prolonged absence. Sub-inspector Gopal Lal Bairwa stated that police discovered the body in the student’s rented room. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called in to collect evidence, and the body has been sent for post-mortem at MBS Hospital.

Though the cause of death is suspected to be hanging, the motive remains unclear. An investigation is ongoing.

Kota, a major hub for competitive exam coaching, has witnessed a surge in student suicides, despite efforts by authorities to address student mental health and reduce stress.
