Soul has no gender. If we really believe in God, then we have to believe that God had created only souls. A soul that resides in human-being can never be considered impure, so question arises how a woman is getting impure with certain physiological changes . In a country like India where “Veda” and “ Gita” are the backbones and pillars of conscience, how these silly mental blocks still exists ??
In the land of the divine soul Sabarimala, women of all age groups are not allowed in the temple just because they undergo a physiological changes in every month. This is absolutely undignified for women. Modern India is advocating about women being fighter jet pilots, sail around the world, lead corporations, fight terrorism or break world records. But the menstrual cycle will still make women you less than equal. It is an irony. Lets go with science first , menstrual cycle is also called as reproductive cycles, as the cycle provides the reproductive capability to a woman. A soul is created in the mother’s womb , and in my opinion nothing can be considered as pure as a mother’s womb. Hats off to the honorable supreme court of India , Led by the former Chief Justice Sir Dipak Misra, who in his historic verdict ordered the entry of women of all ages into the shrine. The majority judgment argued that devotees of Lord Ayyappa do not constitute a separate religious denomination. They also argued that the “practice of exclusion of women of 10-50 age group cannot be regarded as an essential religious practice”.
Searching for the answers in Veda, The four Vedas never state anywhere that a woman’s body is impure or that she cannot do poojas during menstruation. Prohibiting women from entering temples and castigating them as impure is squarely against the teachings of the Vedas.
The new-age propagator of ancient Indian wisdom, thinking on the lines of 19th-century social reformer Swami Dayananda Saraswati, has also given his opinion that Sabarimala should be opened to women devotees.
There may have been restrictions imposed on women in the past but they are purely related to their health. There could be health and security related issues in banning women from Sabarimala that is inside the deep forest but they are irrelevant in modern times.
Egalitarian culture is the most evident sign of a developed society. It is simple logic to think that no God has come up with unequal laws for men and women.
The entry of menstruating women to Sabarimala is being hotly debated now and the traditionalists strongly believe that any change in custom is unthinkable, feminists have declared open war against the antediluvian practice, raising the slogan ‘Happy to Bleed’. And the Politicians are able to see only where to encash their vote catching ideas….. and the people are being manipulated hugely.
New Zealander Suffragette Kate Sheppard famously said, “All that separates, whether race, class, creed or sex is inhuman and must be overcome.
Think think and think ???
